Nanbian Hai Yacht Commercial

| Background

The project is planned to be built in Sanya, Hainan Province, China, on a total land area of 33 acres, which is blessed with natural and human resources such as the ocean, mountains, fishermen's villages and yacht clubs. Sanya is already experiencing an influx of tourists and high-end retailers due to its policies and location. Through this project, we hope to create a more traditional, everyday, and intimate coastal commercial space for local residents living in Sanya.

| Design Concept

The relationship between this project and the sea is the most core value. In terms of layout, we maximise the use of the sea-facing interface, and by setting up landscaped courtyards with different elevations and themes, all businesses can directly face the sea, as if they were traditional water settlements. The concept of our design comes from the traditional culture of "Tanka fish raft", which is the most prominent humanistic memory of Sanya and the area, so we hope that the project can retain the unique memory belonging to this area of the city, and it is an exploration of preserving tradition and innovation.

| Design and Commercial Operation

In terms of business operation, the beach life is full of exploration, collaboration and service to both residents and visitors, and we hope to create plenty of space for the public to socialise and explore on a daily basis.

The commercial complex has a connecting corridor on the second floor that reaches down to the waterfront and becomes a street crossing. This will not only solve the problem of potential safety hazards of the cross-street expressway, but will also carry the public activities of the neighborhood and the city. Since the shoreline is currently almost entirely owned by the yacht clubs, we hope that the footbridge will give the area and the project a more public and visible character. The two are complementary to each other and share the city together.

On the first floor of the commercial volume adjacent to the fishing village, we also planned a fishing market. This market will not only solve the situation of the traditional fish market which is cluttered and difficult for air circulation, but also enhance the function and space for the site and the residents' life, which is the memory of this area and the demand of the residents' life.
