| Project Background
From 2017 to 2023, the CSVB (CHINA SHOPPING-MALL VALUE BOARD), initiated by the well-known domestic industry self-media CRR Commercial Real Estate Chronicles, has been honed over seven years and has covered a total of 34 cities across the country. It has accumulated more than 60 individual awards, involving more than 100 well-known commercial real estate development and operation companies and their 500+ projects. Nearly 300 judges have been involved in the cooperation, and over 30 leading professional media in the industry have partnered up. This award, targeting the shopping mall industry, has established detailed evaluation criteria for the first time in three major areas: marketing activities, leasing achievements, and comprehensive strength.
In 2022, Atelier-Sizhou was invited to collaborate with the organizing committee to create a custom CSVB trophy and related products. On the afternoon of March 24, 2023, the 3rd National Awards Ceremony of the CSVB China Shopping Mall Value Ranking was successfully held at the Creative Sky Plaza in Shanghai.
| Design Concept
The main body of the trophy represents urban architecture, including shopping centers.
Within the city, buildings of varying heights create a skyline that, under the sun's rays, forms a silhouette of the contour. We abstract and gather this silhouette to express the urban skyline through a wooden stacking effect, ultimately designing it into the main form of the trophy.
The base of the trophy, as the weight-bearing part of the entire piece, represents the award-winning units. They are the lifeblood of the city, enriching modern urban life and laying a solid foundation for urban construction.
At the same time, the base also represents the CSVB organizing committee, which shares the heavy responsibility with major commercial projects. The CSVB organizing committee is committed to building a fair and impartial platform, allowing various applicants to showcase themselves, making high-quality projects and cases known to more peers, thereby leading the industry to develop positively and healthily.
Finally, the pins for the gold, silver, and bronze awards of the national group are expressed through three different shapes: square, triangle, and circle, representing enduring and simple beauty. They are connected by the mortise-and-tenon pins, symbolizing the close relationship between commerce and the city.
The gold award's pin is square, representing the most comprehensive and meticulous force in the industry, with distinct edges and unique characteristics.
The silver award's pin is triangular, symbolizing stability and perseverance, supporting the industry's progress in an unpredictable environment.
The bronze award's pin is circular, drawing on the strengths of all, boundless like an infinitely expanding plane, possessing the greatest potential and the most vibrant vitality and energy.
The overall design of the trophy is also highly consistent with the original intention of CSVB: always committed to building a fair platform for the industry, allowing individuals of different shapes and characteristics to collide and learn from each other, gathering the strengths of all, and building a healthy and developing industry as a whole.
| Trophy
The design principle of this year's trophy is derived from the traditional Chinese woodworking technique known as "mortise-and-tenon". The protruding part of the wooden components is called the tenon or tenon head, while the recessed part is referred to as the mortise or mortise hole, mortise slot.
When the tenon and mortise are joined together, they serve the function of "connection". The mortise-and-tenon technique demonstrates the combination of strength and beauty within a small space, representing the crystallization of wisdom from ancient Chinese craftsmen.
This year's CSVB trophy consists of three parts—the main body, the base, and the dowel—all connected through the mortise-and-tenon structure. The overall design symbolizes that commerce is the foundation of the city, and the city is the expression of commerce.
